Trail Conditions April 1st 2019

By April 1, 2019 April 5th, 2019 News, Summer, Winter

Please note we are having technical difficulties with our Trail Conditions Page.  We hope to have this backup and running as soon as possible.

Trail Conditions

We are Open. Over 2cm of snow has come down overnight, after some heavy rain yesterday. Jacob will be grooming Torino, Nagano, Sochi, and Meadowlands this morning. This new snow will make for some interesting skiing, as the base was still pretty wet from the rain. Conditions today will be machine groomed powder mixed with granular, mixed with wet snow. Skiing on Meadowlands has been the best option lately, with only the first downhill corner at Dipsie Doodle being pretty icy. Trail passes are discounted to $15 tax in for the rest of the season. The end is very near, and it would be advantageous to have experience if you choose to ski today. We should be able to make it through the weekend, based on the current forecast. For now, we are taking it one day at a time, as the forecast seems to keep changing. A reminder that our trails are ONE WAY ONLY! Please do not ski backwards on our trails. Our annual bike swap is approaching, on the weekend of April. 6th and 7th. Great place to sell a bike, or find a new one. Super Early Bird Seasons Passes for next Winter are on sale now. Purchase next years pass now, and ski for the rest of this season for free. Click here to purchase. Proper attire is the key to a fun day on the trails. See our video guide here. Be sure to pop into our retail shoppe located in the ATCO trailer. Lots of the latest Nordic skis, boots, poles, and clothes are available for purchase. Ski, snowshoe, and Fatbike rentals are also available now (Check below for Fatbike status – open or closed – as it depends on the conditions). Please call ahead to check for Fatbike rental availability. Fatbiking is permitted (when conditions allow) on all of our trails Mon-Fri, and on snowshoe or the dedicated fatbike trail on weekends. We will be open at 8 am now for as long as we are open for skiing.

This Winter, we are back to offering everything that you have come to expect at Hardwood, albeit in a slightly different way than before the fire. The old wax building has been renovated and will serve as our Guest Services building, along with Ski service shop for any Nordic waxing, service, repairs, etc. This Guest Services building should be your first stop when visiting Hardwood this winter. A full Ski, Snowshoe, and Fatbike rental fleet are once again available. The West Wing is open again and will act as our day lodge, with indoor washrooms, first aid facility, and a warm place to take a break from the great trails. Our Retail store is open, stocked with all the latest Nordic gear. Housed in a 60′ ATCO trailer, we will have the latest in Nordic Skis, Boots, Poles, and Apparel. We have Food service available via a Food Trailer located just outside the West Wing. Grab some warm eats and head into the West Wing for lunch. The old “Inn” has been fixed up and renamed “HQ”, which houses our Programs in the “Camp” room, and provides a home for the management team.
