Masters Winter Racing Team Program Starts Saturday October 1

By September 25, 2016 News

If you are an over 40 year old skier who is interested in xc ski racing at any level, the Team Hardwood Masters racing program is for you. The team meets Saturdays and Sundays during the fall and winter to train, work on their technique, mental and tactical skills and to have fun skiing as a group – all with the focus of being their best in their goal races this winter.

During the fall the training focus is on specific dryland training for xc skiing, either doing ski walking or roller skiing. Each session involves training at specific intensities and work on each skiers individual technique.

Once the snow falls the training continues on snow on the weekends with added sessions on Wednesday evenings. The team will also travel to local and regional loppets, OCup races and Masters championships during the season. Waxing information and training will be given but the responsibility for waxing will be on the skier.

The program will be coached by former National Team coach Jack Sasseville. Jack has coached xc skiing for over 40 years including 13 years with the National Team at 4 Olympic games. He has been coaching masters at this level for the past 20 years.

Some of the program sessions will be held in conjunction with the Team Hardwood Junior and Senior Teams.

The cost of the coaching program is $920 + HST. Skiers will also be required to purchase a trail pass. Season’s passes are available at a reduced price for skiers in the program.
